WHY I BUILT CSL

I kept seeing the same problem.

A straightforward crane question shouldn't mean hunting through PDFs or finding the one person who knows the fleet well enough to answer it.

WHERE IT STARTED“Can I put 7 tonnes out to 15 metres?”

That question is where CSL started for me. I’m a crawler crane operator and piling rig operator, and people on site regularly come to the cab with exactly this sort of thing: a weight, a radius and “can you do it?”

But I’ve also worked as a slinger, lift supervisor and Appointed Person. So I know the same information looks different depending on where you’re standing. The operator wants to know what the crane can do. The lifting team wants to know what’s workable. The AP needs to plan it properly. The hire desk needs to know what they can send. And the customer often just needs to know where to start.

That’s when the idea became bigger than an operator’s tool. Everyone is trying to get to the same crane information — they’re just coming at it from different directions.

CSL is my way of making that first step easier. Put in the load, radius and height, and check the requirement against the cranes you actually have available.

THE WHOLE IDEABring the data to you rather than taking you to the data.

One hire fleet or five different suppliers.

The problem is the same. A hire company may have its own fleet spread across dozens of specification sheets. A major project may have cranes available from several hire companies. CSL brings that known crane pool into one branded environment so the first suitability question starts with what is actually available.

You don’t need to own the cranes.

You just need to know which cranes you have available. Where supplier information is recorded, CSL can keep that identity with the crane while the project retains its own branded environment.

Make your fleet information easier to use.

CSL doesn't change the manufacturer's data. It changes how easily your customer, hire desk, operator, AP or lifting team can get to the relevant part of it — whether the cranes come from one fleet or several suppliers.

And know where to stop.

CSL is an indicative suitability tool. It doesn't replace experience, your lifting team, your Appointed Person, manufacturer information or formal lift planning.

It doesn't replace your AP. It keeps your AP doing AP work.
